Investors appeared to be easing back into action after the long holiday weekend, with only a few standout rounds topping $100 million. However, the week saw a noteworthy $1 billion raise for an AI company, demonstrating continued strong interest in the sector.
Safe Superintelligence, $1B, Artificial Intelligence
Sector: AI
Details: Safe Superintelligence, an AI research lab co-founded by OpenAI's former chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, secured $1 billion from major investors including Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital. The funding values the company at $5 billion. SSI focuses on developing safe AI systems amidst growing concerns about AI’s societal impacts.
