This Week's Journal
Do You Want a Bigger Life?
I needed a bigger life than the one I was living.
It took me a long time to admit that.
Because from the outside, wanting more can look like being ungrateful.
You have a home.
A family.
A career.
A routine.
People who love you.
Shouldn’t that be enough?
For years, I thought maybe something was wrong with me because it wasn’t.
I couldn’t imagine spending my whole life moving between work, dinner, bedtime, TV, sleep—and then doing it all over again.
There was too much of the world I still wanted to experience.
I wanted to see places I’d never seen.
Build things that scared me.
Dance until sunrise.
And I wanted to raise my kids without forgetting that I was still a person outside of being their mom.
Today, my life looks nothing like the one I thought I was supposed to have.
It’s messier.
Less traditional.
Sometimes lonelier.
But it’s mine.
I travel.
I build.
I dance.
I raise two incredible boys.
I have friends I love.
I walk into rooms I once could only dream of being in.
And for the first time, I’m not waiting for my real life to begin.
I’m already living it.
