I was going to skip this week’s newsletter, but writing it is helping me stay strong while I wait for Liam’s surgery to finish.
I’m currently waiting and praying in the hospital post operation room.

This Week's Journal
The Week I Learned the True Power of Community
This week was supposed to be about my son Liam’s surgery.
Instead, it turned into one of the most stressful weeks of my life.
After months of preparing for his SDR surgery, we were told it might be canceled because we still didn’t have insurance authorization. We spent weeks on the phone, filed complaints, escalated the case through every channel we could find, and still had no clear answers.
I felt completely powerless.
Then something incredible happened.
Many of you shared our story.
You introduced us to people who could help.
You tagged executives.
You sent messages.
You prayed for Liam.
You checked in just to ask how he was doing.
Within hours, thousands of people had rallied behind a little boy they had never met.
The next morning, Liam’s authorization was approved.
I don’t know which phone call, introduction, or escalation ultimately made the difference.
Maybe it was all of them.
That’s what community is.
It’s not just showing up for networking events or making introductions when things are going well.
It’s showing up when someone needs you most.
I’ve spent the last few years building Founders Bay because I believe that great things happen when people help each other.
This week, that belief came back to me in the most personal way possible.
To every single person who reached out, commented, shared our story, or simply kept Liam in your thoughts:
Thank you.
You reminded me that behind every startup, every investor, every engineer, and every founder is a human being.
And sometimes, the most important thing we can build isn’t a company.
It’s a community.
